Employment Insurances changes expand coverage

The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare have introduced changes to the koyo hoken (employment insurance) law that is expected to see an extra 2.5 million tanjikan rodosha (“part-timers”) and haken rodosha (dispatched workers) enrolled in unemployment insurance.

From April 2010, employers must enroll workers whose regular working hours are 20 hours or more per week and have anticipated employment of 31 days of more.

Enrollment has become much easier. If you are still not enrolled contact the General Union for a consultation.
