What we've won (a short list):
An end to the 20 minute before 12:00 rule
Holidays for part-time evening Japanese teachers
An extra paid holiday for every year of service and holiday carry over for one year
Recognition of and proper pay (125%) for overtime work
A grievance procedure to address individual problems.
Court victory over an unfair dismissal
Enrolment into unemployment insurance.
A court victory for unpaid overtime for Japanese staff.
What's next for GEOS?
1. Pay for all work performed by both foreign and Japanese,
teachers and staff. This means an end to the amazing amount of unpaid
'unofficial' overtime.
2. Limit the number of lessons to cut down on unpaid overtime
and so teachers can provide the quality lessons that GEOS promises.
3. The health insurance provided by GEOS is insufficient. GEOS should enrol all teachers in the legally mandated health and pension system.
