Coronavirus Skype Consultation Day: Monday, 9 March 12:00 to 18:00

The union has received many consultation questions by email and Facebook. In many cases, we are not receiving enough information to be able to help, and this is causing long email exchanges which aren't very productive.

Therefore, we will be holding a consultation day for coronavirus over Skype so people can ask specific questions which will lead to us hopefully being able to help.

The consultation is open to anyone to get some basic advice (see our many posts first before calling as it may already be covered!).

Of course, if we have to deal directly with your employer over your specific situation, you will need to join the union (as the Trade Union Law only allows us to represent members).

To book an advanced appointment:

  1. Our Skype name is "GeneralUnion". Please send us a contact request and a message with the following information:
    • Your Name
    • Your Skype Name
    • Your Employer
    • Time you are available between 1200 and 1800
  2. You will get a message back giving you a Skype Name to send a request to. Please note that this time as it is NOT automated. There is a REAL person booking an appointment for you.
  3. You will receive a Skype call at that time. Please do not call the Skype name yourself. (Also, if you don't get a call exactly at that time, please wait 15 minutes).

On the day:
Follow steps 1 and 2 in the above example.

What to have ready:
The basic questions about your coronavirus situation.
Any necessary paperwork (contract, notice of layoff, etc)

Your information is 100% confidential and your employer will not be contacted with your name unless you give consent.
