15 MINUTES PREP TIME BETWEEN CLASSESThree students with 10 minutes to prepare - think that's hard? Wait until you have 4 students with 10 minutes to prepare. Sounds good? Only for NOVA. We need at least FIVE MORE MINUTES.
REMOVAL OF NO-SOCIALIZATION CLAUSEThe socialization policy was declared illegal by the Osaka District Court in 2004. The clause should be removed from the contract and working rules immediately. To leave the clause there is an attempt to intimidate teachers.
FAIR PAID HOLIDAY SYSTEMThink you have to give four weeks' notice before you can take your holidays? NO, YOU DON'T. There is NO notice requirement in the law. NOVA admitted this to the Union after we challenged the company on it. You can take your holidays at a time of your choosing - call us if NOVA tries to stop you. Contact the union for more information.
NO MORE UNFAIR EVALUATIONS AND COMPLAINTSEver had a complaint from a year ago brought up at an evaluation? This is done to reduce your pay raise. NOVA doesn't tell you who, when, or what; it just takes the money out of your pocket. We want fair pay raises for all NOVA teachers.
AREA SAFETY COMMITTEESWhat do you do if there's been an accident? Is there a first aid kit in your school? Labour law stipulates that companies with more than 10 employees must have a Health and Safety Committee. NOVA must set up a health and Safety committee for each area.
What can you do?Don't wait till you've got a problem to join the Union. We've achieved a lot, but to make NOVA a better place to work, you and other teachers need to build up the Union's strength inside the company. With enough teachers in the Union, NOVA will have to change its ways. Join us now!
