Back in the early days at Nova a bunch of misfit teachers got together and formed legendary Osakan band, Tripod Jimmy. One of their most popular songs at the time was No Vacation, dedicated to teachers' needs for more holidays. At the time, Nova refused to obey Labour Standards Law, seriously short changing full-time teachers and refusing to give part-timers any holidays at all. After union intervention, Nova was forced to comply with the law. Part-timers now get anywhere up to 20 days per year and full-timers get the full complement stipulated under the law. You can thank the union for that, along with Tripod Jimmy who helped raised the consciousness' of teachers to fight for it. After what seems like a lifetime on the Osakan and Japan indie circuit, Tripod Jimmy have called it quits.
