Ritsumeikan University Unfair Labour Practices: Labour Commission Case to start

The General Union is suing Ritsumeikan University for unfair labour practices. The University's unfair labour practices during our dispute over limited term contracts have been innumerable. Here are the main ones:

- threatening Union members who distributed Union leaflets with contract non-renewal, in order to intimidate them into stopping Union activity

- allowing the University staff union the use of an office, the right to post its information material on a notice board, and other facilities while refusing these to the General Union

- spreading false allegations about the General Union, its strike actions, and its members

- excluding Union members from proceedings for the election of a workers' representative

- going back on an agreement that, in the event of a change in job category, teachers¡Ç employment could continue indefinitely

Schedule of hearings

March 7, 2006, 13:00-15:00 - examination of witnesses for the Union
March 28, 2006, 13:00-15:00 - cross examination of witnesses for the Union
April 27, 2006, 13:00-15:00 - examination of 2 witnesses for the University
